Given the current COVID-19 outbreak, it is important that all hotels, restaurants and other hospitality units take suitable measures to restrict any further transmission of the virus while providing accommodation and other services post lockdown. To assist the hospitality industry in their preparedness to continue operations safely and mitigate risks arising out of the COVID pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism has partnered with the Quality Council of India, to bring this initiative that entails:
This process will explain the key elements related to preparedness against COVID-19. A Self-Certification will be generated at the end.
After undertaking Self-Certification, the key elements of SAATHI will be explained through Webinars. A Certificate of Participation will be issued.
After Self-Certification units may go for a site/remote assessment which will assess on-ground preparedness and advise opportunities for improvement. A Certificate of Assessment will be issued.
I have personally studied the SAATHI Standard and it is indeed structured well to incorporate the Government guidelines. Few of my units have also attended the webinars and I must say that it is extremely professionally conducted and complies with Honourable Prime Ministers Vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
We are an independent small hotel in Delhi, and I believe such a Standard by the Government will definitely assist hotels like mine in our readiness to open and continue operations. My sincere thanks to the Ministry of Tourism and QCI for thinking about us in these troubled times.
I have realigned the processes of my Homestay with the SAATHI protocols to face the challenges posed by COVID-19 risks. The display of self-certification in my reception will certainly infuse confidence in the guests who will start arriving soon.
Ours was the first hotel to self-certify on SAATHI from Lucknow. We have incorporated the various elements of this standard in our operations which has given a structured approach to our fight against COVID. My training manager and HOD’s attended one of the webinars which was extremely beneficial.
SAATHI is indeed a commendable initiative by the Government. In these testing times a self-certification on detailed government guidelines and SOPs on COVID-19 will certainly assist in the preparedness of the hospitality industry as well as build trust and confidence of the travellers.
With my experience in the hospitality industry, especially on cruise liners, I must say that clinically clean is the call for the day, and the SAATHI initiative is a step in that direction. This is a well-structured standard developed by the Government and I wish the hotels adopt it in spirit.
I have gone through the SAATHI Standard and it is very well structured. As a seasoned Housekeeping professional, I'm happy to say that the Government has accommodated all relevant hygiene and safety requirements for hotels in this protocol.
The SAATHI initiative appears to be aimed in the right direction. Adoption of this will build customer trust and get them back to hotels and restaurants. I'm happy the government also consulted the industry in development of the same.
As a Chef I comprehend the importance of Hygiene and Safety in any food production area. This assumes even more significance in the current Pandemic scenario. I’m sure SAATHI initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, will not only build trust amongst the consumers but also ensure safety and hygiene for all associates too.
This initiative by the Government will definitely assist B&Bs like mine in establishing protocols to minimize COVID risks. The webinar was indeed informative and addresses the core issues of hygiene and safety.
I'm sure that this initiative by the Government will immensely benefit the hotel industry in maintaining high hygiene standards. Edelweiss Tokio, being a user of hotels all across the country, would definitely prefer a SAATHI self-certified hotel as that would give us more confidence regarding safety of our employees who will soon start travelling and use hotels to stay.
SAATHI scheme is a well-intended initiative capable of building real confidence for the guests/tourists and true encouragement for the Hotels under the present extraordinary times. The scheme follows a reasonably pragmatic & thorough scientific approach to make the certifications absolutely worthwhile.
FHRAI urges all Hotels in India to subscribe to this scheme and restart their operation on this positive participatory note.
The Certification through SAATHI is a great initiative of MoT. The detailed guidelines and process helps the establishment to gaze at the preparedness on its own to receive customers as well as to manage its employees. This will not only boost the confidence of both guests and staff but will also ascertain that the Hotel has exhibited intent and commitment towards safety and hygiene at the workplace.
SAATHI is a wonderful initiative by the Government and I feel a holistic implementation of this standard by the hotel industry will help in the preparedness to fight this menace. These are tough times and we thank the Government to have launched this initiative. We have also self-certified on SAATHI and proudly display the Certificate on our counters!
